LANGHORNE, PA - The National Christian
College Athletic Association and Philadelphia Biblical University
announced today that the NCCAA II Women's National Basketball Tournament
will move to PBU in 2010. The tournament has been hosted by Kentucky
Christian University the last two years.
Kentucky Christian is the
defending NCCAA II National Champion and enters the 2009-10 season as
the favorite to take home their fourth straight NCCAA National
Championship. The Lady Knights have won the tournament six out of the
last seven years overall.
The Crimson Eagles finished
third in the tournament last season, their highest finish since a second
place showing in 2002.
The tournament will take
place March 11-13, 2010 and include the Champions from seven different
NCCAA Regions across the country. Should the Crimson Eagles win
the East Region there will be just one at-large team in this year's
tournament. The field has been reduced to eight teams this year for the
first time since the 2004-05 season, when the tournament was expanded
to 10 teams.
The NCCAA National Tournament will be the Crimson Eagles' last challenge
of the 2009-10 season. Between now and then their primary task will be
to improve their standing in the very tough Colonial States Athletic
Conference, where they went just 1-15 last season.
Alumni ticket discounts are available. The Athletic Department is also offering special group packages for alumni who are coaching and wish to bring their teams to watch the national championship tournament. For more information contact Drew Watson, Director of Athletics, mailto:dwatson@pbu.edu
